So you have your new website/blog, so you’re all set, right?
Not really. I mean you can “set it and go” if you’d like, but I’d be doing you a disservice if I said that was okay.
With any website, you want to ensure that it remains updated, and that you ensure backups are being done on a regular basis.
Why is it important to update your site’s functions?
Because hackers are always looking for vulnerabilites in sites. By ensuring you have the most recent versions of wordpress, plugins, and themes, it is one more measure to reducing the chances of having that happen.
Other kinds of updates to consider include content updates. Who is going to do this?
This will depend on the kind of website you have. If you have a blog, for example, you will need to be adding content to it regularly. If you have a website with an e-store integrated into it, you will also need to add and remove content from time to time.
Of course, some websites rarely need to be touched, so it all depends on what your vision is for your website.
What about backups?
You need to ensure that regular backups are occurring. Things can happen. Perhaps you are hacked. Perhaps you or an employee accidentally mess something up on your website that isn’t easily undone by either one of you.
By having access to your most recent backup, you should be able to restore any lost data.
You can rest assured that I can set you up with backups in place, so that if you ever need them, they will be there for you.
